| Since he had a rope to grab onto in case things went south, it takes much of the mental game of soloing out of the picture and definitely slowed him down before he cratered. Besides the fact that it is extremely rude to solo in front of other people. | FLAG |

When I try to watch it on his FB site I get a message saying to 'Update my Adobe Flash Player' to the newest version - which I already have - but I still can't see the vid. Too bad - I wanted to see what all the hype was about! Wish it could be downloaded and sent to me! I am DYING to see what happened here.... It's simple really. | Really idiotic. People who really want to solo don't do it for the fame, i.e having someone film you, they do it for its purity. Also, they usually are good at climbing, or at least the live ones. | FLAG |

| I get the free solo bug every now and then but only on climbs that I've been on 100+ times, so every move needs to be dialed. I learned my lesson last year with trying to onsight free solo a route - luckily a group of climbers bailed me out. Personally, I have no sympathy for this dude because (1) he gets someone to film it (2) he falls cuz he doesn't have any of the moves dialed (3) and posts it to facebook for sympathy or to "prove" how "hardcore" he is.....definitely not the spirit of climbing .. | FLAG |

| The link from the OP still works, and thanks for sharing this. But, honestly, he's just bouldering, and the videographer chic was spotting him pretty well the whole time. Plus, he had his dog there to break his fall, so it's all good. Someone needs to copy and paste the entire text from the Rock and Resole thread to that guy's facebook page. | FLAG |

| "the line between badass and dumbass is not only fine, it is a grey, wavy line, and in a different place for each individual. it's hard to recognise, easy to miss, and painfully clear when overstepped. it's the concept of pushing hard and not giving up, balanced against blind ambition and getting in too deep. basically, when you start to get really scared, you are probably approaching your line." - Leo Houlding | FLAG |
