Description

This route is stunning. Just discovered this spring, Proud and Free is a overhanging finger crack on great granite. Good holds, bomber finger locks, sustained overhanging climbing leads to a shake out than crux boulldery moves on crimps and face holds. This is, without a doubt, one of the top routes at Marshfiled Ledge. Great exposure, great climbing, great rock, great gear. Awesome route. One of VT's best trad lines. If you like cracks you will love this hidden New England gem.

Location

This route is at the top of Marshfiled Ledge. From the trail at the base of the cliff look for a beautiflul off width 2 pitches up. Proud and Free to the right. The easiest approach is to fallow the approach trail east along the cliff. Go east and up as far as you can. When the trail starts to lead down and around a buttress keep going up the gully. Then rope up the gully, corner and shwack your way up or rock climb and and traverse right after 2 pitches.

Protection

1 bolt, standard rack of cams and nuts. 2 bolt anchor
