Vegas climbers-
|
Hi, heading to Red Rocks with a couple Kentuckians Thursday, two by car, one by plane. Plan on staying past the weekend, weather looks great. Would like to climb with any willing locals, godfearing or otherwise. |
|
Not looking that good bro... bring warm clothes and stay off the rock if it rains. Maybe you looked at the forecast for Vegas? It's normally about 10 degrees colder at RR. Hopefully it won't be that bad in calico hills but I'm sure multi pitch routes are going to be COLD. |
|
I climbed all day in a t-shirt yesterday so the weather isn't as bad as it must have been for Nick's experience. It is hit and miss though so sometimes it just comes down to luck. Today it was a bit colder because it was cloudy and windy. |

Dont let nick scare you away, doesn't look too bad... 50s and mostly sunny. Stay in the sun and that sounds like a nice day to me! |
|
Yeah, weather looks fine. Just stay in the sun. My guess is that you guys are sport climbers, so there will be plenty of sunny options in the Calico Hills. |

You would have to be crazy to leave the Red River Gorge to go sport climbing in Red Rocks. The Red isn't exactly climbable right now so maybe that's part of it but Im thinking they brought a rack... |
|
Oh I wasn't trying to scare anyone away. Interesting with the different forecasts for the same general area. I just think most people believe Red Rocks = Vegas = warm. For example it was warmer yesterday afternoon in Boulder than it was in Vegas. |

He's coming with partners and still wants to meet up with any willing locals. One of my main goals as a trad climber is to see as few other climbers as possible, aside from my partner. Heck, more than one partner is semi-annoying. |

way true... i'm for kentucky boys being sport climbers |

Thanks for the weather link and for what other useful info was posted in all that-I had looked at the same site but for Vegas, that is quite the difference. Perhaps St George will offer some warmer walls if Red Rocks gets snow. |

Hah, yes clipping ancient pitons and bedframe bolts will definitely put the fear into ya. More or less we all lead sport in the 10s and 11s, trad, a couple grades under that. We've all got a few years under our belts, and some wilderness and medical experience as well. We're staying flexible, just going to play as it comes, specially weatherwise. Too bad it wasn't last weekend, Friday night beers would've been fun to crash. |

i don't see how beers this friday would disrupt the natural order of things. god knows i have fuck all to do. uh, bueller?? |
