DescriptionLecherous Leanings is on the North Pillar of the North Face of the North Peak of Timpanogos. As a reminder, this peak does have a 13 mile (!) summit ridge line. It is a huge mountain massiv. The North Pillar is a detached mountain in its own right on the right side of the North Face of the North Peak. Incredibly good access via a little known and little used mountain road totally open to the public. Oh, how we wish Lone Peak had an open road accessible for use like the old days! Getting ThereDrive up American Fork Canyon to Timpooneke Campground (all paved). Continue up the road winding around numerous switchbacks until it becomes a dirt road. Continue driving on this road. Interestingly, this road is closed to ATVs and any non-street legal vehicles. Follow this rough road (I drove it no problem in a Subaru) for 3 miles. This road actually goes all the way to Utah Valley's Cedar Hills, but it is closed for access there. After driving this 3 mile stretch, The North Pillar will be directly above you up a talus slope. A 30-40 minute hike brings you to the base of the route. The ClassicsMountain Project's determination of some of the classic, most popular, highest rated routes for Mt. Timpanogos:
