BETA PHOTO: West Squaw Mountain Overview

Description

The lower, west slopes of Squaw Mountain contain a few bolted lines on short outcroppings of quartzite. The approaches are somewhat long and unpleasant by Rock Canyon standards.

This area isn't in Rock Canyon proper, but access starts in the Rock Canyon parking lot.

Getting There

Park in the Rock Canyon parking area and walk up canyon past the brown gate at the east end of the parking area.

Take the first hiking path that branches left from the paved road and cross the bridge over the creek (or over the creek bed, depending on the time of year) just above the concrete spillway structure. Follow the wide, dirt and gravel path north.

Supposedly there is a bolted line or two in the limestone up higher on the west slope, but I haven't gone up there yet to see.
