Is that rap from the summit pinnacle? Anchors on top of Robbin's crack?
Where does it drop you in relation to the top anchor of S-direct of Knob Job?

A double rope rap will put you back to Lunch Ledge

The trough 'rap' is far from the summit pinnacle- a least one technical pitch (the chimney) and several ratty 4th/5th class pitches (few hundred feet), then the summit pinnacle. This rap anchor (quality ASCA if I remember correctly) if far right of Nob Job and S-direct at about the level of the S-directs first slab belay (approx). Check the topo in the book and it should be a little more clear. Cheers.

For some reason I thought the caption said from the top of the thumb...
Either I can't read or I really want to know if you can rap from the top of the thumb all the way back. I know James Garret installed anchors but I can't get beta for the raps between the top and the top of Knob Job...

It is possible to rap from the summit of the Thumb. Many of the rappels require two ropes.

Rap from the summit off anchors for Robbins Crack with 1 rope.

Scramble 3rd/4th class down to slings around a small tree in the general vicinity of the top of S-Direct and rappel with 2 ropes.

Then link up what should be pretty obvious rappel anchors down to Lunch Ledge.

Rappel from anchors on the South edge of Lunch Ledge above S-Crack.

At some point this became less obvious to us and we ended up at a shitty 2 piton hanging anchor that needed some TLC. Eventually you will end up back in the starting gully/chimney if all goes well.

IMO rapping from the Summit kind of sucked. If you must rappel it is probably better not to summit and rappel from the last good slab pitch on whatever route you are on. But what fun is that?
