It's been quite a few years since I climbed that route and drew that topo. I don't remember the specifics anymore. The lower half of the route was less memorable than the upper half. Lots of clean rock farther to the right so you may have started over there.
The upper half followed a major dihedral system for about 700', ran across a few old pitons in this area.
Yes, that approach is somewhat shitty. When the gully splits we went to the right to avoid some of the worst of it.
