Area Description 

The base of this buttress begins immediately east of the top of Lots of Balls Slab.


Approach 

Park at the Grist Mill, 0.55 miles up from the Park&Ride lot. The approach is 3500'. It is steep and takes about 70 minutes if you are fit.

Start at the western edge of the Grist Mill fenced area. Hike 150' northwest/uphill/forest. 25' east/flat/clear. 175' northwest/uphill/forest. 50' east/downhill. 50' northwest/uphill to large rock. 100' northeast/steep/forest. 120' northwest/clear/pass old giant steel anchor. 60' northeast/uphill. 40' northwest/uphill. 20' northeast/uphill. 75' northwest/uphill to big rock. 75' northwest/flat. 25' north/steep/loose. 75' west. 100' north/steep/loose gully. Continue 2,000' northeast of here, along the base and east of Lots of Balls Slab.


Closed Area Nearby 

The Grist Mill was recently closed to public access by the Wasatch Cache National Forest Service. That does not mean access to Rodeo Buttress is closed. It just means we have to hike around this little closed area on our way to Rodeo Buttress.

Boy, I sure am glad there are so many pictures of Rodeo Buttress here. Otherwise I may never have found my way up to this classic. Come on "ooo" What about some info on the routes, not just pictures of the cliffs from across the canyon.
