Description
Short yet sustained sport climbing on dirty, broken quartzite is local fare at the Quarry. The northern aspect of the wall keeps it cool and shady, and the box canyon calms the wind and absorbs the roar of I-80 and I-215 traffic.
Take I-215 to 3300 South. Drive north on Wasatch Blvd to Warr Rd. Turn east and then north onto Cascade Way. There is a gate at the end of the asphalt. Please be respectful of homeowners when parking. Hike up the dirt road on the other side of the gate. The road turns and climbs to the east, then levels out and turns to the south. Pass a birdhouse and you'll see the top of the Quarry behind a steep embankment. Do yourself a favor and use the swichback to the south. Enter the box canyon with the north-facing wall. The first route encountered is the obvious roof. The other two are hiding around the corner and may require some scrambling. Plan on 15 minutes of hiking.
