Description

The Gully is a steep n-s gully with the majority of the climbs on the west face. The climbs are steep, the approach is loose, and the difficulty ranges from 5.7-5.12c. There are a few sport routes.

Getting There

Beyond Storm Mtn Picnic Area, and the sharp curve, you will notice a straightaway with 3 or so gullies on the north. This is the last main gully. Park just beyond the gully where you will find a pullout on the left. Hike west, pass along the road into the gully, and then scramble up the loose, loose, loose gravel. Staying closer to the cliff tends to help.

When we climbed this route, it was called the Wall of Higher Education.

There were two good bolted routes at the top, with a nice catwalk ledge for belay.

Due to the scramble the exposure is good.

The gully itself was named the Gully of Higher Education after the first route that M.Bitter put up, I think it is called Ms. Luvalle Cranks a Thesis, 11d or 12a protected by two full sets of RPs. I think that was the 1st route in the gully. The other names just followed with that theme (or at least they did in the old days).
