Description

The Wave Wall has a very wet area that soaks the cliff. This area is west of the many traverses. West of this, and just before a little gully, there will be an offwidth that faces west. This offwidth gives you ample opportunity to practice technique in a nice location. Choose your poison: armbar or chickenwing, and move it on up the crack.

Protection

A top-rope is relatively easy to set up with some scrambling. The crack is wide, so if lead large pieces are in order.

A funny story about the day that I 1st climbed this crack. My wife and I and our kids were parked right there and the door to our Mustang was open, so that my son could get in and out. A sherriff had received a call about an abandoned Mustang. He stops while I am halfway up the crack, and recognizes myself and my wife, so he takes a five and converses with us. All the while I am halfway up this crack utilizing a chickenwing and just hanging out. I don't know if it was the climb or the hanging out for 5 minutes, but I have been efficient at offwidths ever since.
