Imagine living here 85 years ago... Swasey's Cabin...

Description

Technically, this area is called Eagle Canyon I believe. However, the area of Swaseyland is meant to encompass the region at Swasey's Cabin and in the canyons west (behind) the cabin. This region is south of I-70 (Eagle Canyon runs under I-70), and thus I felt this area falls into the San Rafael South Region. It does connect with the Eagle Canyon description that Paul Ross has in the San Rafael North Region. One section of the canyon is north of I-70, the other south.

Getting There

The easiest way to get to Swaseyland is by driving to Swasey's Cabin and then following the 4WD road that continues past it to the west.

Swasey's Cabin is a well known landmark in the San Rafael Swell and can be found on most maps. It is a worthwhile stop, and the walk to the Icebox area is also fun. There is also a wonderful toilet located here!
