Description

Toviah Tower

Getting There

The tower is located near Eagle Canyon in the San Rafael Swell north of I-70. From Green River the turn off at an iron gate is 40 miles west on I-70, and 11.5 miles past the Ranch exit 131 that leads to Buckhorn Wash/Rafael river campsite.

The iron gate is just past mile marker 121. Go through the gate that leads to a road mantainence shed, and left of this a short dirt road that leads to a good camp site. From the campsite hike due west below the cliffs for about 5 minutes to a depression that leads up right onto a broad ridge. Continue west along this (at one's back is the small arrowhead arch), and soon ahead on the skyline behind the large rock mesa will be seen the tops of Toviah and the smaller Nemo tower to its right.

Go left around the foot of the mesa. A depression in the slabs as one rounds the corner is used for the approach to the Nemo tower. A little further brings one to the base of Toviah with the tree covered "Secret Mesa" to its left. About 30 minutes easy hike from campsite
