Tower 143 offers one of the prouder summits to be had in this area. Named after the local Playboy channel, it sits on top of the Sunshine Wall nestled among a group of tower-like formations. The entrada sandstone here is pretty soft in places so if you prefer wingate, this tower is probably not for you. James Garrett, Pete Keane and Brad England put up the only route in 1998 which packs a few punches in its 240 foot span.
This area in general is quite interesting and is becoming a popular place to hike but don’t worry, you’re virtually guaranteed to have the route to yourself. I would be surprised if it has been climbed more than a dozen times.
Getting There
Follow the directions for the Sunshine Wall. Once you reach the Sunshine Wall, hike southeast on the defunct 4x4 road until the tower comes into view.
