BETA PHOTO: Dwight prior to digging for the anchor on Chicken ...
Description
Usually reliably well formed in a good winter season. Can range from thick to thin. Tends to hold a fair amount of snow past the steeper section. Top out can consist of snow and/or cobbles. If unsure of your frozen cobble wallowing abilities, don't pass up any protection options.
Location
Route is catty corner across from the Roadside Coulior and the last route above the road before the road swings back to the left (heading from the box to the bridge). Just to the right of Hog Jowels. Around 300 feet past the Box Canyon on the left side of the road, above the road past some trees (can see the ice through the trees) on a sloping bench.
Protection
Screws suffice for the first 80 feet. There's a fairly robust bush on the right, near a slight break in the rock wall on the right. The anchor is located at the top end of this rock wall and may be buried under as much as 4 to 5 feet of snow. Location of the anchor is below the last of the rock fin, but, prior to stepping up and cresting a short step into the lower angle drainage field above the route.
