BETA PHOTO: A look at the Scary Monsters.

Description

A little spicy!

Climb the face to a cruxy topout on sloping crimps. The landing is good but you won't want to come off at the top.

Location

Up the hill from the Big Joe boulder. Walk up the trail to the boulder sitting right above the large waterfall ampitheater.

Protection

Crashpad, attentive spotter

There is a V4 that starts right of Scary Monsters and uses the right arete as well as a thin rail. Also pretty classic.

Everyone knows this is V6 the poster should revise this rating.

Yes you should change this rating. Scary Monsters is V6. The V4 starts two feet to the right and climbs the sharp seams that run up to the arete (up and right again). "Utah Bouldering" calls Scary Monsters V6.

I did not see why this one was considered such a great problem in "A Bouldering Guide to Utah". Nothing special by Joe's standards IMO.
