Wow, that's pretty impressive Gigette. Are you a pilot? I have no idea whether you have the model right or not, but still. No, these were some firefighters from Utah. They were pretty cool guys (some climbers) and they had tons of beer which they were sharing freely (thanks again guys). If you are a pilot, you should fly over to Ibex sometime. The only climbing area I've ever been to where you can land your plane at the crags.

So true, Ibex hardpan provides the best fly to crag access I have ever seen. A friend of mine once landed his Cessna just in time for the BBQ....good thing as he was the one who remembered the steak sauce...he had air freighted some more much needed firewood to us, too!

I'm not a pilot,(I'd probably end up crashing if I was) but have taken lessons in the past in a Cessna-172, and flown around in my ex BF's Piper Cherokee. Fun stuff! I've always had a thing for planes though. My biological father was a private pilot, and his brother is a retired (commercial) international pilot; so maybe there's a little of it in my blood, who knows. I'd like to check out IBEX; so many areas to explore...

Yeah, I hear ya Gigette. It's like me with motorcycles - I've always wanted one, but I know I'd end up dead or crippled within a month or two if I had one. Sounds like fun times James. I can imagine firewood is hard to come by at Ibex.

That's really cool. I'm a pilot and a climber (currently working for an airline as a pilot). I've landed at Ibex myself in a Cessna 152. Very fun times.... It was during the UBCP fly-in several years ago. Had to get gas at Delta on the way back in the middle of the night. Let's just say that flying small airplanes can have it's own unique form of "epic" sometimes.

If I ever have the fincial ability, I'd love to get something a little more burley like a C-185 (blast Cessna for not making these anymore) or a Maule. I love Huskies but I'd want more than two places. And as far as small airplanes go, a nosewheel is definitely a "training wheel." If I ever bought an airplane it would absolutely be a taildragger.
