Spring time Peregrine closures (it lasts until the end summer) MORE INFO >>>
The Burr Trail is the only place I've encountered Peregrine closuers around Escalante. We also ran into a not so friendly "climbing" ranger who actually got off his duff to hike out to tell us that we couldn't climb where we were. He "pointed" out a nest that none of us could see, down the canyon 500+yards, even with binoculars. I say this because he HATED the idea of Longs canyon becoming a "Moab" (and even said so). Don't worry buddy, the rock here is not nearly as good..;)
This is me starting up Bastard Child on the FA.
Description
This spicy meatball is just right of Flipper babies. Hard/weird crack moves at the bottom turn into cruising past one drilled pin and up to 2 more drilled angles on the vertical crux, throw a dynmaic sideways thingy towards the anchor, "that edge IS as good as it looks" whewww..
Location
The route is to the right of Flipper Babies. Take 14 steps from your car. ;)
Protection
Qd's, slings, #1 metolius to #4 camalot. Replacement slings for the anchor might be nice.

I think Flipper babies and Bastard Child are/were (as of 4/06) exempt from the peregin closure, look for the small inobvious yellow sign posted somewhere. It (the sign) "draws the line" of where we can climb during the nesting months.
