| I can't believe people are still crying about $5. It's five f****** dollars. You blow that on McDonalds every day!!! Plus they said they extended the free period until may so those who paid the $5 (like myself) got a free year. Stop crying *itches!! On the plus side. This app is amazing! Tell me where else you can get this much info (and trollers) for only $10??? I'd gladly pay $30 for this much info. Keep it up MP!! | FLAG |

| I used the free version. I like it. I'll buy the new one. Most guidebooks are in excess of $20. While MP is by no means comprehensive, I have used it on more than one occasion where I didn't have a guidebook. It's a great resource. Let's say you go to... WY, NY, and TX in a year. You have a resource that will help you find your way around for the most part, all for $10. Or you could buy a guidebook for each of the areas you're going. Let's not forget one of the key features- you can update it. Also, it has detailed information for some routes and areas- via user updates/additions that you won't find in many guidebooks. Some people like it, some people prefer to do all the legwork on their own. Either way, it's a damn good deal for a valuable resource for most people that frequent the site. If you like it, get it. If you don't, then don't. But bitching about five bucks makes you look like an asshole- which you probably are- especially considering you agreed to the terms. | FLAG |

| Jake Jones wrote: But bitching about five bucks makes you look like an asshole- which you probably are- Wow, talk about a lynch mob mentality. Except possibly for Reginald, any criticisms directed at Nick and Andy in this thread have been extremely mild. My customer service expectations are pretty low, as anyone who read the Ripstop Repair thread would know. Nevertheless, they did originally say that the original $4.99 would be applied to future charges. I understand that it didn't work out that way. I'll try to be strong and bear up under the hardship. I'd like to think they meant to post an announcement about the upcoming fee, and meant to say something like "Those of you who contributed more than others, thanks! Climbing is like that. Some people contribute more than others, whether spending $100 and a few hours to bolt a route, or hours and sweat to clean the dirt out of a classic crack. We hope you'll continue to enjoy and contribute to MP in the future." But even if they didn't mean to say that, they're climbers and I'm willing to cut them a little slack. And the app is pretty cool. | FLAG |

| I paid the $5 subscription for a year, and for me changing to a $10/life arrangement is fine. At the end of the day, I paid $4.99 and got about two years of data service for the price of 1 year, when you consider the free data period. Now I'll pay a $10 one-time fee and have no re-occuring charges. Sounds good to me. Thanks to the guys that run this great site! T. | FLAG |

| Sorry if this has been covered before, but where does the money spent on the app go? Is it for the site in general or for the app specifically? I have no idea as to the costs involved in running either. Could someone give me just a basic overview or direct me to where that information is? I know no one is getting rich off of this site, just curious as to the expenses of upkeep and development. | FLAG |

| I was also a bit confused about the change in price and I sent a message to MP and received a response within minutes pointing me to this conversation. I understand the charges and I think I will be ok paying the $10. This app is very useful even for beginners like me and my family and I am really impressed with the customer service. Thank you MP. | Even for those who aren't beginners, it is a fantastic app. The app's usefulness made a full showing (again) at my most recent trip to Indian Creek. For an area so vast, the guidebook can't have all the pictures. The app was phenomenal at filling in the gaps. | FLAG |
