Thompson Canyon's southern access via the private ranch is now closed. MORE INFO >>>
The gate to Thompson Canyon's southern end is locked and is no longer a viable option for short and convenient access. The standard access is now via the longer, rougher Davenport Lookout/Thompson Canyon route. See below for details. New Mexico CRAG (NMCRAG) will continue to be in contact with the ranch owners and the Forest Service to see if we can resolve this issue. In the meantime, please respect the closure and spread the word.
This information is a public crowdsourcing effort between the Access Fund,
and Mountain Project. You should confirm closures, restrictions, and/or related dates.

Keeping climbing areas open and conserving the climbing environment
|

Description This is a fairly continuous route on mostly pockets. Some loose rock to start then a steep bulge on descent holds takes you up to a blunt arete on the right side of the wall. Move up this for a ways then back left onto the face to finish. Fun powerful and pumpy climbing. Suffers from a lack of traffic and can be a bit dirty at times but it is easy to access the anchors at the top and rap in to brush it if need be. If you know the name of this route let me know and I will post it.
Location This is the far right route on the renissance wall and climbs grey rock.
Protection 5 bolts and anchors.

| Fun route with awesome movement, quite continuous, it is on from bolts 2 to 5, a sustained boulder problem. From the last bolt to the anchors it is easier but might still feel hard if you're pumped. Graded 12c in the EFR / Agee guide, but feels substantially harder. I believe that Chris also called it 13a.
