There are two bolted 2 unknown climbs. The one on the left side is 5.8 and the one on the right is 5.10.

Getting There

From I-80, exit onto Hwy. 20 and drive four miles toward Nevada City. After 3.5 miles turn north onto Bowman Lake Rd. and drive for 1.3 miles. Just before the bridge that crosses the Yuba River There is a dirt access road (this road is now gated and locked so you will have to walk in). After walking 1200 yards on this dirt road you will see a some 3' boulders and a cairn on the right. Take this trail 100 yards and you will come to Steel Monkey Wall on the right. Above Steel Monkey Wall is Two Unknown Climbs area. 3rd class up the gully to the right of Steel Monkey Wall continue up 50 yards or so to a cliff band. Two Unknown climbs are on the left side of this cliff band and the approach to the upper benches areas (Kudos, Fortress etc) goes up a ramp on the right of this cliff band. See Mike Carville's 1991 guide book for locations and see the Topo of all these locations and GPS coordinates in the “Photo's of the Emeralds” on the main Emeralds page.

Crux getting to first bolt (a key foothold broke) Stick clip the first bolt. Very awkward movement. Harder than it looks!...[more]   Browse More Classics in CA

These climb are listed in the Carville guide under the route description of "Second time around 5.8R" in the Steel Monkey section. Carville lists them as (5.10-5.11)
