Leo & Pete during the FA of
Tufa Consequences (5.1...

Description

This is the short (70-80 foot)yellow/orange wall directly above the upper parking area for Bat Cave. It faces west and gets morning shade. The most unique features are several short 20 foot tall tufas that give the cliff it's namesake. This wall will make for good warm-ups during warmer temps or fun cool-downs during the winter afternoons. The climbs will be from 50 to 80 feet and range in difficultly from 5.9 to 5.13 or harder

Getting There

Take the faint trail at the south side of the upper parking spot. The trail diagonals south for several hundred feet then swithbacks directly up to the wall. The Bat Cave approach trail starts from the north side of the same parking and heads north

Climb the right side (black) tufas to some good holds at the top. Continue thru the steep stuff on fun jugs to a stance where the angle kicks back. A few interesting moves past the last few bolts takes you to the chains on the right wall. This is a real cool warm-up route. Steep, juggy and unique...[more]   Browse More Classics in NM

There are 4 excellent routes on the wall now as well as a TR climb (Wishbone Left). The routes on either side of the tufa routes are actually quite long and sustained. Still plenty of room for more stuff, Ed has some cleaning bolts on the bulging white wall and I've still got plans for a steep one just left of Slither as well as maybe a few more moderates.
There is also some good potential for some easy and moderate stuff (5.9-5.11) on the next cliff section that is 200 feet north of this wall. Gumby Wall maybe? (lol)

This wall gets no more morning shade then the wall to the left of the cave.
