Training for Horsepens 40 but slopers are killing my wrist

I'm looking for advice on wrist pain. I'm headed down to Horsepens in a little less than a month so I've be trying to train a lot (but not excessively). Whenever I hang on the slopers on my hang board, or climb sloper focused problems I get bad pain below my thumb (more side/back of wrist than palm) in my wrist and/or on the back of my hand. Has anyone had a similar issue? Thoughts on what might be going on? Training tips? I've been working on jugs and crimps to build strength, as well as doing wrist extensions holding a nalgene water bottle, but I really was to be able to climb on slopers pain free!

Rice bucket workout -I had the same wrist issues until I started doing the rice bucket consistently for about 3 months. It also makes my fingers feel good, but really helped with wrist issues, especially on slopers.

I often reinforce my wrists with 2-3 wraps of tape.
It does restrict movement but also adds some stability.

How often do you train on the slopers, and how long have you taken off from doing so since it started hurting? Sounds like your body's screaming that it needs more time to heal.

What's the best way to tape a wrist for an injury like this? I read a dr Julian Saunders article that said taping wrists can be complicated to get right...

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
