The Tombstone is an obvious slab on the right of the trail just before reaching The Book. It is directly in front of the Fat City Crack alcove. The rock has a prominent, left-arching, splitter crack that joins an offwidth (Tombstone, 5.8) as well as a bolted route (Resurrection, 5.11c).

There are no bolted anchors on this formation, so plan on improvising a rappel.

Getting There

Hike the standard approach to The Book and The Pages Wall and look for The Tombstone on the right just before reaching the base of The Book.

This is the obivous, splitter crack that you pass on the trail to The Book. It starts in a left-arching hand crack that joins a chimney about 40' up. An offwidth direct start is also possible. Continue up the chimney (a little run out here) to gain an offwidth crack to the shoulder of The Tombstone....[more]   Browse More Classics in CO
