I do believe the "3rd time" comment turned out to be erroneous. However the drop was due to incorrect grigri usage. Also a kid got dropped and died at the Motherload a couple years back, I think on a cinch. cfuttner

Real climbers who really climb get tired of arguing with uninformed jackasses who hold strong opinions for bad reasons. Uninformed jackasses don't get tired of it. This makes the mountainproject forums a great place for getting into a stupid argument or getting some irrelevant bad advice, and not much else.

Dexter, I'm not sure why you want to get on the internet to make fun of a teenager just for being young, but you should probably think about what kind of a man it makes you.

hey ty, you want to get out climbing in august and through the year? I'll belay you even though dex is sure that I'm mentally retarded and still watch nickelodeon (I was more of a cartoon network kind of child btw). Ice too. I'll be living on the west side of town and would be stoked on getting out. Keenan Waeschle

And what are you talking about? That a belay device can be used incorrectly? That's your grand point? Do you have any other gems of knowledge, oh master of the obvious? Should I wipe my ass with a rake?

someone specifically asked how someone could drop someone with a grigri. Are you so old you already forgot? Try to follow along here and not just jump in halfway through not knowing what you are talking about k gramps.

It's all extremes with you! Teenagers and grandparents! Grigri of doom! Sigh, kids these days. I guess my 30-something ass better start producing some offspring, huh?

I'm sure it's everybody else just not keeping up with you. You set a blistering mental pace and all. Hahahaha! Simpleton.

I didn't say I was against the ATC.... Otherwise, strong work digging up pics of my favorite climber.

Good god, what have I done?!? As the OP I forced myself to read through the last two pages of little girls bickering, but let me tell you, it was painful. I just wanted to hear peoples opinions, lets just stop the quarreling!

I have decided to get rid of the damn thing, its a great device, but I really don't need it. I am going to stick to my beloved ATC and call it good. My loss you might think? I would say someone else's gain...

I wish I could lock this thread, but alas, I cannot, so I will leave you with this advice:

I only use gri gri for solo tr or when belaying a very heavy climber on tr, otherwise its ATC. Its nice to have it though. Amazing how argumentative you all can be over something like that????? Oh well maybe its entertaining. Elena Sera Jose
