Description

This is one cool cave! Since it is a good ways underneath Mound Woodson, this place stays cool even on hot days and the cave can keep snow and ice in it well into June some years. It is home to one of the most classic wide crack problems in Vedauwoo, The Stone Cold Stunna.

Getting There

This cave is more or less on the east side of Md. Woodson, closer to the south than the north side. The best way to find it is to walk the closed road right up to the base of Md. Woodson. From here, locate the massive boulders on the south east side with the burned out and vandalized caves under them, and head right from there and into the aspens toward Md. Woodson. When you get to the dome, look for a low hallway/tunnel, crawl through it to an opening, and then crawl through the next tunnel and into The Stone Cold Cave.

The Stone Cold Stunna V8-9 7B+  WY : Vedauwoo : ... : The Stone Cold Cave
This is one fantastic wide crack! This is a fifty-degree overhanging dihedral that starts out bigger than fist/fist stacks and suddenly pinches down to hand/hand stacks about a third of the way up. At the lip, it suddenly widens back to bigger than double fists. Start sitting on the obvious jug to the left of the crack. This is a high standard wide crack that is tall, committing, and pure. The rock is excellent on this one, the landing is perfectly flat, and the line is aesthetic. This is ...[more]   Browse More Classics in WY
