Description

Fun, relaxed sandstone bouldering off of Happy Jack road. Not really anything too intense here, which makes it a perfect area for beginners, or for a mellow day of circuiting.

Getting There

From Laramie, take I-80 east towards Cheyenne. Take exit 323 (Happy Jack Road) and turn right at the top of the ramp. Drive roughly a mile and a half until you come to a grael parking lot on the right. Park here, making sure to stay away from any buildings, machinery, construction maerials, etc. From the parking lot, walk across the street into the sagebrush and trees. Just keep walking straight until you are right on top of a band of red sandstone, which is the schoolyard. Walk down into these boulders and enjoy.

I'll follow with some specifics on problems and grades and such. Until then, just check Davin's guidebook.

Check out "That Dog Just Ain't Gonna Hunt," a new FA that is uncharacteristic of The Schoolyard in its sequencing and movement. A really good line that has the feel of a real boulder problem.
