After the graffiti removal.

The Rock Garden has lots of lines just a few miles off the main road. If you know where the Texas Block is, continue on and Rock Garden parking is on the left hand side. I have even seen some Unaweep projects in Rock and Ice magazine that are in the Rock Garden area.

It has a quick approach, a good variety of boulders, and lots of potential for me. In the Colorado Bouldering guidebook, there are 5-6 pages on the Rock Garden.

Getting There

This is just a bit past the Texas Block area on the left hand side (assuming you're coming from Grand Junction). There's a dirt lot on the left.

Per Kevin Hadfield: this is just after mile marker 150 on CO Hwy 141 on the south side of the road.

A while back some graffiti showed up in Unaweep in the Rock Garden. The Western Colorado Climbersí Coalition and the Grand Junction Climbing Center have been working with the Bureau of Land Management to get this graffiti removed. As with any government agency, there was a lot of red tape to cut through, but we are pleased to tell everyone that the job is done. A BLM crew went up the other day and removed much of the graffiti leaving only shadows of the paint. These shadows will be removed shortly, but that is the hardest part of graffiti removal. The WCCC and GJCC would like to thank the BLM for all their hard work.
