Description This was named after a guy with the sleazy habit of snagging FFAs after his buddies have done all the drilling and cleaning. On this route, however, the proper FA credit clearly goes to Tod and Ernie for the day-long extensive lichen removal effort that made this into a good line. This route climbs a lot like Protege (its neighbor), although it doesn't have quite the same spooky feel to it. It is hard down low and then eases up as you go. The Poacher sits just right of Protege on the north-facing wall.
Protection 12 bolts (?).

| Another great route on this superb little chunk of rock. Similar in nature to the other 11s right here - hard start with fun hero climbing above. This one felt easier to me than the 2 routes to the right (The Mentor and The Warden), possibly due to my reach. The start isn't as fierce and crimpy as the one immediately to the right (The Mentor), although the hard climbing lasts a little bit longer. All of these are well bolted through the hard climbing, so you have a good incentive to go for it. |
