A vast area that extends from highway 244 to about two miles into the wilderness, south of Horsetheif Lake. Mainly follows Trail #14, from the lake trailhead, through a valley that can get relatively swampy in certain spots during the spring/summer. Generally a flat approach. Considered a 'backcountry' area, you'll probably see hikers before you see another climber. Still quite undeveloped, lots of potential, hand-drill only.

Getting There

Main parking is the Horsetheif Lake trailhead south of the lake. Or right off Hwy 244 in front of gate (for Hidden Acres). 0-60 min approaches.

Do you enjoy hand jams, finger locks, fins, and hard crystal pulling? How about all of that in one route. This route has it all and is a true classic on high quality rock that surprisingly is free of moss and liken. This route climbs the left arĂȘte then transitions right under the roof to some flakes and a bolt. From there the route follows the flakes and the finger / hand crack to a bulge at the top....[more]   Browse More Classics in SD
