The Oven Mitt, Joshua Tree NP

This shady, north-facing wall faces into the valley containing Gunsmoke and is easily identified by a mitten shaped block in the middle of the crag. There are about half a dozen routes here from 5.5 to 5.11 with almost all of them being 5.9 and easier.

Getting There

Approach as for Gunsmoke but break left on the trail heading west to the petroglyphs.

Native rock art can be found along the base of this crag, not sure where in relation to the routes though. Keep in mind that it is illegal to climb within 50ft of rock art, in all directions.
