Description Suggest change

The Lighthouse is a prominent 400 ft fin of rock that extends to the East from the cliff band that runs to the North behind Coffee Pot Rock. It can also be distinguished by it's summit block. Routes exist on all aspects of the tower, North, South, East and West, so It can be climbed year round except for the hottest summer days. Rock quality varies on every route with long sections of good rock interrupted by short sections of choss. All routes have been cleared of the "bad choss" hahaha.

Getting There Suggest change

From the Soldgiers Pass Trailhead, head North on the obvious 4x4 road. Make a left onto the Teacup trail after a quarter mile or so. Follow this for approximately 10 minutes (The Lighthouse can be easily seen to the Northwest) to a point with several boulders and a dead juniper (see picture). Make a right on a faint mountain biker trail that winds off into the trees. Follow this trail up and down and all around for 10-15 minutes until you reach a slick rock bench with a few white stones sitting on it (see picture). Just after this slick rock bench the trail bends left and descends into a wash. Leave the trail and continue up the wash (see picture). Stay left at a minor fork and when the wash reaches a small slick rock section after 5 minutes, leave it a head up and right onto a small climber's trail. May be a cairn here. Follow the trail up onto the slick rock ridge following cairns. Continue up and head right into the wash just below the chossy little spire. Continue up this wash to the toe of The Lighthouse and the base of Spaceman. Total approach 45 mins plus or minus.

Alternate Approach: Sedona Sense required: Pass the Teacup trail on the 4x4 road and enter the next wash. Follow this, making a left and then a right at the two forks. Continue up until you reach the slick rock bench and the wash described above. 35 minutes.
