Description
Contain some of the seepest climbing in Boven and one of the most memorable 22s around.
North facing, it is not called the Foundry for nothing. It is very hot, even on a cold sunny winter day. Best to go on a cloudy day or even a rainy day. If an electric storm arrives, retreat in the back of the deepest section of the caves.

Getting There
From the grassy plateau in front of The Restaurant crags, you get to the west end of the cliff edge and and follow the path heading east. When it climbs up slightly and get to large boulders, look for a cairn. The rap chains are on a flat rock on the cliff edge. You are on top of Meltdown. Smelt down is on your left (west). This 5.9 (South African grade 17) will be your way out. You can also scramble to the top around the corner.
