BETA PHOTO: The Fortress Tower from the west.

The Regular Route ascends the left edge of the tower (40') as viewed from the south. Start at the high point of the ridge connecting the landform to the slope behind.

Descent: rap 40' from double anchors on the Dakota Sandstone capstone.

From the Garfield trailhead parking area, hike west along the dirt road parallelling I-70 for about 15 minutes past another fence line to an open canyon. Straight ahead is the blocky Fortress and up to the right is the Turkey Neck Tower.

Pitons (3) 5/8" through 1 1/4".
