Hey Brent, I understand that you're psyched on these routes, but the star system kind of loses its usefulness when EVERYTHING is a 4-star classic!

I think I have a pretty good idea of what goes into establishing new routes.

I have no doubt the routes at The Danks are great. If I did fly home and climb them, I'm sure I would enjoy them all. But in reality, not every route turns out to be a classic. Every developer knows and accepts that. It's not being cynical or trying to tear people down. It's the simple truth.

One of the main functions of this website (or any good guidebook) is to provide accurate information to visiting climbers. They rely on an honest assessment of a route's quality, by people that have actually climbed them. It's not a local bias. It's a consensus. You putting 4 stars on everything actually creates the bias you're trying to avoid.

This doesn't need to be that big of a deal. It's just an observation. Anyone that knows me well, knows that I am one of the biggest cheerleaders for the Canyon. They also know that I tend to geek out on the details.

you spelled "consensious" wrong.

and, the definition of consensus is, to wit...

"Consensus may be defined as a group decision making process that seeks the consent of all as an acceptable resolution, one that can be supported, even if not the (or quite possibly THE) "favorite" of each individual."

i would say that is an argument for the accurate reporting of route quality, despite how stoked one is on the act of climbing itself.

just sayin'........
