The Arch Wall
is a north/east facing slab of sharp and solid limestone.
This section of The Soul Asylum
currently hosts about six to eight long and varied sport routes with grades ranging from 5.6 to 5.11
The Arch Wall
is the second in a series of three relatively close areas at the Soul Asylum
. You will know you've reached the wall once you spot a small limestone arch at the apex of the wall's north/east face. The route directly under this arch is the epic Arch Rival
Finding the Arch Wall starts with a swift hike from the Simian Complex parking lot. From the cattle guard, drive 1.9 miles to an intersection, turn left and drive another 0.2 of a mile on bumpy, but ascendable, 2wd terrain to a small parking area on the right. Walk about 0.3 of a mile to a white metal gate. From the gate walk another 0.3 on an eroding dirt road to a deep and wide rut hosting cairns. Follow these east to the Soul Asylum's base.

An exciting line up the overhanging right side of a limestone rib. Follow positive pockets and huge jugs for a couple of bolts, followed by less-obvious holds (and a couple of two finger pockets), to sidepulls and footholds a little closer to the overhang than seems comfortable. After the fifth bolt the angle eases considerably and it's slabby, sharp-edge climbing up and left to the anchors....[more] Browse More Classics in UT
