Description

Fun limestone bouldering. Walls range from 12 to 30 feet in height and have unlimited opportunities for pocketed climbing. The rock is solid and there is a variety of grades making it a place for all levels of climbers. The lake is also a good place to cool off on warm days.

The cliff band overlooks Belton Lake and has routes that get sun and shade, though mostly shade.

A good resource for the area can be found at Dr. Topo.

Getting There

This area is about an hour or so north of Austin with the closest city being Belton.

From I-35, take the 6th Ave. exit and head West. Follow this road until it makes a T-intersection with Main St. Take a right on main and follow it until just past the Wal-Mart. Make a left on F.M. 439 (also Lake Road). Follow this road and the signs for Belton Dam and make a right on F.M. 2271. Follow F.M. 2271 for several miles and make a right on Rogers Park Ln. just after the Bell County Sportsman Club. Take the first left on Mourning Dove Tr. and follow this to the gate (can't go any further).

Park here and follow the trail that takes off on the right. A short sub-5 minute hike will bring you to the first wall (Little Cave).

There is limited parking, so think of others before blocking the gate (though I'm not sure who uses it). Also, this area seems to be surrounded by private property, so please be respectful.
