Description

If you've explored the Davis Mountains region of West Texas, you've seen plenty of rock. As a climber, this is one of the most frustrating regions in the South, especially for a state the size of Texas, but lacking its fair share of publicly owned land. Point of Rocks, being at least partially accessible, is a site for sore eyes after driving through an area filled with potential.
To truly sample Point of Rocks, one must cross several fallen fences. I guess that's perhaps better than crossing several "unfallen" fences.

Getting There

If traveling south from Ft. Davis, head south on hwy. 17 for about 2 miles. Then, turn right (west) on hwy. 166 for 10 miles. P.O.R. sits next to and above a roadside picnic area. This area is impossible to miss.
