Texas canyon camping
Does anyone know of a campsite near Texas Canyon? |
I cant think of anything "near" T canyon... But i would beg the question, do you need to spend more than a half day there? |
bogie1989..... The closest tent camping may be Castaic Lake or Oak Flats near Castaic, or North KOA in Acton, at exit 11. |

I thought you could camp any where (almost) you want in the ANF. If you just want to sleep, camp there. Or go about a mile further and you can camp at the 1st Staging area, where there's fire pits, tables and a bathroom. Not very aesthetic, probably windy, and a good chance you'll hear dirt bikes in the AM, and I wouldn't be surprised if on the weekend there was a kegger-pallet fire, but A-OK to camp there. Probably better off at the Acton KOA. |

Today, the rangers closed the road to Texas Canyon (Rush Canyon Road), citing health and safety reasons resulting from the heavy rains this weekend. When I inquired about camping, the rangers indicated that camping IS ALLOWED at Texas Canyon and Staging Area #1, but open fires are NOT permitted, except in designated fire rings. |
