I hadn't been doing much hangboard training and the other day I used mine to do a lot of hanging, probably 12 sets of open hand hanging for 20 seconds or so each time. I feel like I have some serious tenderness and pain on the interior of my elbow, aka golfer's elbow. Is this normal to have pain and tenderness here, or is it probably tendinosis, or even tendinitis? I read that tendinitis is usually acute onset and accompanied with swelling. I didn't have those. So am I likely suffering an injury or could the pain I felt for about three days after just be normal stressing and recovering of my tendons?

I seem to recall that golfer's elbow is often caused by repititive stress.
I suggest getting a copy of Dave MacLeod's new book about climbing injuries, Make or Break. It includes a pretty careful treatment of the complexities of golfer's elbow.
