I remember reading an idea bandied about in the forums here some time ago and made a decision on my way down the lunch rock trail today.
I'm gonna build a zipline from the rock down to humber park. Just not sure whether to have it start from the top of Lunch Rock or from below the summit somewhere.
Lets do it! I am so sick of carrying approach shoes or wearing out my climbing shoes hiking in them! I guess the flammable footwear thing was a good idea.
Since you're at it, could you please construct one that takes you from Southridge to the base so I don't have to drive in the morning? And then one to Cafe Aroma at the end of the day...
I think adding a zipline would entice more people to come and make it more crowded. I like that Taquitz has a hilly approach. It keeps out lazy craggers. I also like that is has a friction descent since it keeps people off the rock towards the end of the day allowing enjoyable climbing with less people.
Not only are ziplines faster on the east coast, they'll tell you they're casual as hell THEN you'll find out they're faster than they are out west.
I like the idea of the zipline from the summit to Suicide. It would pretty much be for stallions only (fire a route on Tahquitz, move on to sunny Suicide). I think I'll go from the top of the White Maiden to the base of Flower of High Rank. That way you can walk downhill to most of the climbs, and the zipline angle would be kept to a level of severity acceptable to us west coasters.
No ziplines to Cafe Aroma until they'll sell me an egg breakfast for less than $15.
Maybe a zipline from the Buttress of Cracks to Nomad so I can get first dibs on the junk in the bargain bin? Hard to say.
I think Michael Reardon would disapprove of the zipline on top of White Maiden because of the hordes of inexperienced climbers it would attract. How about from the anchors on the direct finish of The Vampier to the Base of Valhalla?
