BETA PHOTO: Tahitian Rocks

Description

Tahitian Rocks is a fairly large formation with only a few bolted routes. The climbing is on the West face, so it is shady and cool until the afternoon.

Getting There

From the main City of Rocks road, get on to the Circle Creek Overlook road. This junction is on the East side of the City. Drive to the end of this road, then park at the lot. Take a road/trail west from here. Trend left at a fence, staying on the main road. Follow this road as it curves towards the Tahitian rocks. This formation is a short walk north of the road after encountering a gated fence.

Featured Route For Tahitian Rocks
Peter leading Bora Bora

Bora Bora 5.9 5c 17 VI 17 HVS 5a  ID : City of Rocks : Tahitian Rocks
Bora Bora is the leftmost established route on the Tahitian Rocks wall. It is to the right and uphill from most of the other routes. It starts in a gully which separtes the upper and lower portions of this rock.Climb up ricey rock through 7 bolts to a set of chain anchors. Several moves of 5.9 are found in the middle of the route. The climbing is a little ricey, which detracts from the overall quality, but hopefully this will improve with time. A one rope rap with a 60m gets you down....[more]   Browse More Classics in ID
