Hi, I woke up with a swollen purple middle finger in late March after crimping and have not gotten my finger back no matter what I do (rest, ice, etc). I am going to see a hand surgeon tomorrow but I am just wondering if anyone out there has any feedback or has experienced a similar problem. The swelling has gone down since the original injury and I have almost full mobility but I experience very sharp pains accompanied by a "snagging" clicking feeling on the side of my finger extending from the PIP to the DIP (end knuckle), making me suspect that there is something not quite healing right. Xrays determined I have no fracture or bone avulsion. I am one of many climbers without insurance so I am flying by the seat of my pants on this one.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hey Ivan, I'm curious to know what the hand specialist thought. Do you have an update?

And of course, I hope your injury is getting better.
