Description

Sweet 17 is a fin of rock just north east of the Comp Rock - East Face area. It's a large formation of good rock offering a few sport routes and a few mixed gear routes with most of the routes being in the 5.10 range. The fin faces north/south so the formation offers climbing on the west side as well as the east side so you can choose sun or shade.

Getting There

From the CRSP Ranch House, follow the trails for the Comp Wall Slabs and take a trail that goes between the Wedding Bell and the north east end of the Comp Wall.

Featured Route For Sweet 17
Monkey Funk.

Monkey Funk 5.11c  ID : Castle Rocks : ... : West Side
Start up a shallow, left-facing corner through steep, less-than-quality rock using the featured rock on the right and the gritty, non-featured rock on the left for feet. A nice, heavily-chalked block in the corner offers a nice clip hold but doesn't look like it'll be there for long. (I broke two holds in the first 15' of the route in Sept. 2008.)Pull the crux around the 4th bolt into less steep and easier but run-out climbing past a few more bolts to the bolted anchor. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in ID
