Like they say...
A picture is worth a thousand words.

But I don't think 10k words would do that kind of power justice!

Derric and I worked together on the "Tow In world Cup" at Jaws(that footage became part of the Billabong Odyssey) and three separate "Red Bull King of the Air" events. He was also a life guard at Wyamia and is accredited in saving many a strong surfer. He Buzzy and Laird were the first to tow into really big waves. Derric is true Surf Royalty in my opinion!

Hey Olaf,
Yup this amazing shot keeps on popping up and I think it's the most widely watched shot online.
It was shot by Pete Fuzard in Super18 from the helo.
I was shooting from the spot you built me and ran thru twenty 400' film mags (80 minutes) that day, the most I ever shot in one day, ever.
I begged Pete to let me do the helo shooting since I had already done almost 200 hours in the past but he was the director and it was his call.
It was Pete's very first time of using the Tyler Mount in a helo and he friggin nailed it!
The shot of Parsons is jaw dropping and will live as one of the best ever.
That was an amazing day we all had courtesy of the Brazilians.
I just ran into Ricardo Fonseca, the Brazilian producer of that event here in Santa Barbara.
He was visiting a rich Brazilian surfer who is a mutual acquaintance and Ricardo came over to my house and visited.
He still has a surfing TV show in Brazil.
Hows the Maui life for you?
Cheers,
Greg

This is generally accepted as the heaviest wave ever photographed being ridden. Laird Hamilton at Teahupoo in Tahiti.

That is an amazing photo.
Isn't there a video of Laird riding that break?

I love the name 'Teahupoo'
I assume (using hawaiian word meanings)...
It means Te=the, Ahu=alter, Po'o=head

"The Head Alter"
phew... heavy !

In a zoo in California, a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately, due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size, they died shortly after birth.

The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health, although physically she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fall into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother's cubs, perhaps she would improve.

After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother. The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been tried in a zoo environment. Sometimes a mother of one species will take on the care of a different species. The only "orphans" that could be found quickly, were a litter of weaner pigs. The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger.
Dude, don't go left.. don't go left!! Ah crap, he went left

Me on the summit of Devil's Tower

Just spent a week on Block Island w/ family and friends and had 5 days of good, fun waves from TS Colin. Also went free diving spear fishing for Stripers on a drift dive off of Black Rock. Excellent trip!

hey, you ever surf Irma's over by Sandy's on Oahu? I've been hitting that one the last couple days (small waves) but I want to know how that thing gets in big waves. It's a real heavy break.

That sounds like an ideal week Eastvillage!
Pat I have never surfed Lama's. If you got some waves there in the last week you are very fortunant! We haven't had anything here on Maui in over a week. I got a couple of head high glassy days on the west side about 10 days ago. One of the days I surfed alone for over an hour head high glass and then was joined by two friends for the remander of my sesh. That's about all that I have to report surf wise. Windsurfing on the other hand has been a blast. The wind has been real strong creating some sweet wind swell to smack! The waves don't have much power but they can get some size and they are real frequent so you get a lot of waves in the sesh. There haven't been any crowds ether. I have sailed every day for a long time now and it has been delightful! Warm clear water, lots of sea life, waves, and wind till dark.
Has any body else been getting out this summer? Post up and keep this thread alive !
O yeah, the wave bash was a blast!

Dawn patrol at Grandma's, 3hours work, 2hours surfing at Woody's, rolling late lunch, late afternoon wind surf sesh, beers with the bros at the cross roads of the universe, and dinner at our nest. Not a bad day.IMHO

Nice Olaf ;)

Not much to report here, cept...
Just got back from a long weekend in the Valley ;)

My young gun, bruddah 'Luke to Zuke' is on the plane back to Anchorage.
Little (6'3") bastid dragged me up.. hmm let's see...
2- pitches of 10.d
1 10.b
3 10.a's
1 5.9

Nothing for the young buck, but I
(like a fool)
hadn't even done so much as a chin up in almost a month.
(snicker..)

My tricep's are worked
but it hurts so good ;)
