DescriptionFor routes in the sun virtually all day there are three (3) basic areas: the Pond, the new wall west of Atlantis (Old Tunnel Area), and this- Sunburn Crag. Though 3 new routes exist on a lower cliff that one passes (9,10d,and a 11a), Sunburn Crag has 3 of it's own routes. Getting ThereApproximately 2 miles east of the turnoff to Magma Mine Road on Highway 60. It lies a quarter mile northeast of a bridge (one passes over) at the Devil's Canyon Picnic area. On the east side of the road one will spy a Forest Service road with a gate that you can park either in front or behind of. Hike east and up this 4WD road for 150 yards (past the cliff with the new routes). Approach Sunburn crag from right to left as much as possible to minimize the severity of the steepness of the "trail", done properly it should take but 5 minutes.
