Stuff you go over on the way up Palm Springs Tramway

What is it? A lot looks broken and bad, also looks like some long clean lines on a couple of the formations. The approach would not be very fun unless you can convince the tram to stop and open the doors so you can rap down.

Do you want to know about the low down stuff or the stuff up at the top?

Both I guess, but the stuff at the top caught my eye more and is more in season at the moment. I've found some info on Kaufman crag on supertopo.. Are there other developed crags?

I think Forgerty (sp) who lives in Palm Springs has a few climbs close to the bottom station.

He is the person who did a bunch of the "Dry Falls" climbs.... Levi knows.

Coffman Crag is really huge on the downhill side.... it would be epic adventure to just keep going down along the south side, looks like you would end up rapping in spots, get to the bottom and climb out.

If there was no way to climb up the stone, the uphill dirt, scree, dead tree, sand slope would kill you for sure.

I also have some vague info about a crag that is off to the south, across the plateau.... something like a 6 pitch deal that Fred East and John Egger climbed back in the late 70....they told me its facing almost due south.... those boys ended up with my bolt kit one time, when they returned it to me it was missing about 10 bolts. I was told that my bolts were on that climb.... what are good friends for anyway.

Anyway the info is flowing on the Taco... good topic.

Isn't the Tram Nice? you go from Hot to perfect temps in a few minutes. I don't like the ride down, being a Mechanical Engineer I KNOW all things fail... like bearings, cables etc.....

Coffman Crag from the C to C trail... you get really close, when the trail heads away from this, cross country over to it.

Well, they're big, and pretty, and appear to be a kinda mix between Tahquitz granite and JT Quartz Monzonite. Post pics if you go. I haven't yet. Also don't get caught shot or otherwise sued by the Stasi.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
