Description

The Stevia Plateau lies to the Southeast of the Geisler Group, and the high point is Montischella; 2,615 meters. The Western and Northwestern aspect is steep and abrupt with major Dolomite outcroppings of climbable rock, most notably Torre Firenze. There are several mountain Rifugio, most notably the Regensburger Hut (Rifugio Firenze), and Rifugio Juac. Both are accessible from Wolkenstein by steep but well cared for mountain paths.

Getting There

From Wolkenstein, drive to the Daunei section via a steep and somewhat winding paved road. The road ends at a public parking area where the paths begin and are well-marked.

The route begins on the Northwest side of the formation and after 3 pitches, reaches the arÍte; move to the right (the crux is a traverse beneath some overhangs on a steep face on pitch 3 and is 5.6/5.7, UIAA Gr. IV+). Another very steep section and overhang is overcome before reaching another bolted anchor. At this point the difficulty decreases along with the angle of the rock. The remaining 8-9 leads are on very good, juggy rock....[more]   Browse More Classics in International
