I want to climb in Patagonia this spring. I've never been to the place before but I've heard quite a bit about it and the necessity of sitting out the never-ending weather. From the little research I've done some of the peaks that inspire me are Cerro Standhart, Torre Egger, Cerro Torre, Fitz Roy, and Cerro Murallone. Cochamo also looks like a neat place but I imagine thats a separate trip. Not sure which of these I'm ready for at the moment if any. I have big wall experience and ice climbing experience and would like to do some serious training this fall. If anyone is interested please reach out to me. If you live in Colorado in particular we could train.
Was flipping through posts and saw this. I'm currently planning a trip with some people to head down to Patagonia probably around December or a bit later.
If you like I can easily keep you updated on any info or bumps in the road we come across in regards to heading down there.

That's a proud list..
If you are climbing 5.11 fast, and leading WI5 at a good speed, then focus on being in hiking shape. I feel like for those peaks, those grades I listed would be the minimum to be able to ascend/descend at a safe speed due to ever changing weather. (Or you don't want to be up high when it rolls in if possible!)
But anyway, I have seen good climbers get shutdown by the approaches.
If you need some beta I could probably provide some about the area, FitzRoy, St.Exupery, Guillaumet, and Cerro Solo over a beer sometime.
Definitely keep me updated! Would love to get a beer with you Cor and learn more about the climbing. Definitely would need alot more training before I'm ready
