Description

Sphinx Rock is the larger and more easterly of the two rocks directly below Hortencia's at the Cliffhanger and features several different faces requiring different approaches.

Five sub-areas are found here:

Blue Bolts Wall - the west face

Early Bird Wall - the southwest face

Arrowhead Lookout Wall - the south face

Kosmos Wall - the east face

Necropolis - the north face

Watch out for rattlesnakes in warmer weather!

Getting There

Approach along the climber's trail and continue down the gully with some scrambling and down-climbing.

The approach takes 5-15 minutes depending upon the wall chosen.
